Dear Illinois Marchers!

We are so proud and excited to launch merchandise that is specific to us Illinoisans! Please visit the following link to buy t-shirts, sweatshirts, and/or crewneck shirts from our campaign on Bonfire.com

Get your Women's March - Illinois shirts here!

All proceeds will go directly towards costs that the Illinois chapter is incurring in preparing our state for the march. Whatever funds remain will go towards sponsoring marchers from Illinois who cannot afford a bus seat to go to D.C. We want to be 100% transparent on this process as organizers for Illinois and will post regular updates on exactly how the proceeds are used.

We are so grateful for all of you - please know that not only will this be an amazing way for you to show off proudly that you hail from Illinois, it will be an amazing memorabilia for years to come, and you are HELPING ILLINOIS ORGANIZERS AND MARCHERS!

On a different note, we have an Eventbrite event to register Illinois marchers who will be attending the march. Please register here:

Please Register on the Illinois Eventbrite here!

It’s free, of course, since there are no tickets for this march. However, this is a great way for us to gauge how many people are going from Illinois and also a wonderful way for us to keep in touch with you both before and after the march!

Warm hugs and happy holidays to you all!

TRANSPORTATION UPDATE (RALLYBUS ONLY)

RallyBus parking has been secured.

RFK stadium will be the location of the parking. This area is directly connected to public transportation (DC metro) and is about a 30 MINUTE WALK from the starting location of the march.

Here are the options to get to the starting location of our march:

  1. You can walk the 30 minutes, to the start location at Independence Ave. & 3rd St SW.

  2. You can pre-purchase a DC SmarTrip card (recommended) so you can ride public transportation, directly from RFK stadium.

(Currently, the national team is working on a 3rd option for shuttle buses, but these plans are not yet in place nor solidified.)

Washington Area Mass Transit Authority (wmata.com) offers reusable SmarTrip cards to pay Metrorail and Metrobus fare.

  • The website is user friendly, gives downloadable maps, schedules, and fare costs from all locations. The card is mailed to you, due to high demand, if you plan on purchasing - do so ASAP.

  • CLICK HERE IF YOU WISH TO PURCHASE A CARD: smartrip.wmata.com.

  • If you already own a SmarTrip card and you're adding value to current SmarTrip cards, wait until you are within 30 days of arrival. Purchases expire if you do not touch your card to a card reader within that period of time. This does NOT apply to NEW CARDS purchased today.

The National Website also has many links for DC accessibility here:

OFFICIAL ‘LOCATION UPDATE’ FROM NATIONAL TEAM

Here's the latest update from the National Team of organizers regarding the location of the march, that should help assuage any confusion or doubts regarding the location of the Women's March on Washington and whether or not the march is still on! It is one hundred percent still on, of course!

https://www.womensmarch.com/updates...

The Women's March on Washington announced today that the location of our rally has been approved by an inter-agency task force. People from across the nation will gather at the intersection of Independence Ave and Third St SW, near the U.S. Capitol, at 10:00am on January 21, 2017. The Washington Post reported on this update on Friday, December 9, 2017.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/local/wp/2016/12/09/the-womens-march-on-washington-says-they-have-secured-a-starting-location/?utm_term=.1303c75af9a9

The planning process will be ongoing until days before the march, and we will continue to work closely with the National Park Service, Metropolitan Police Department, Homeland Security, Capitol Police, and other agencies to ensure a safe march with all logistics in place to accommodate the number of people we anticipate convening. For security reasons, we will not release any further details about march logistics until a later date.

The Women’s March on Washington aims to send a message to all levels of government, including but not limited to the incoming Presidential administration, that we stand together in solidarity and we expect elected leaders to act to protect the rights of women, their families and their communities.
